Feb 24

Great day for a ride. Headed in a new direction towards Edna, Tx. Then went to Port Lavaca and finally to Indianola.

Edna, like most towns in this area of Texas have some unique architecture and a lot of old buildings. I am always amazed at the beauty of these buildings and I cannot help but take pictures.

The official Edna website says:
Edna became the "Flag City" in 1968, when the City Council passed a resolution stating that inasmuch as our sons were risking their lives in a conflict on foreign soil; and knowing the draft card burning, protest marches, and anti-war demonstrations aided and comforted the enemy and prolonged the war; the City of Edna condemned all such un-American activities, and wished to show its support of the government of the United States, and decreed that the flag of the United States be flown along city streets until an honorable peace had been secured in Vietnam.”

The city of Edna was full of many old buildings, many which had beautiful mural paintings. I am always amazed at the architecture all over Texas.

We found this place on google called Scullys. They had an outside deck but still did not allow Ziva so we set out to find a place that did.

We headed to Indianola, Texas, and Ziva got out of her pet palace and rode with us. She absolutely loves riding on Buds shoulders where she can see all around. The ride to Indianola was a pretty ride along the beach.

We finally arrived at the Indianola Fishing Marina. They had an outside deck and welcomed Ziva very warmly. She got a lot of attention and loved all of it.  We ate lunch, a local sitting next to us suggested the special burger of the day and we ordered it. All was very good and the beer was very cold and plenty of ice for Ziva. The view of the ocean from all sides of the deck were awesome.

The scenery on the way out was beautiful, we took the route along the ocean.  There were lots of RVs parked on the beach, one of the things we loved about the area but never got to actually try it but we will next time we visit the area.

Not sure what the smoke was, but was probably a refinery.
