Vanderpool Tx

June 5-7, 2017

We stayed in Waco Tx with my son for 3 days and then headed to Vanderpool TX where we camped for 2 days at the Lost Maples State Natural Area. This was an absolutely beautiful park and the campground was awesome. The view was great and there were lots of birds and all was quiet there even tho there were quite a few campers. The only bad part about this whole area is that there was absolutely no cell service on Verizon and the website did say there was no service at the park but the office did have wifi and you can park there and use it for free,

From Waco to Leakey we took route 84 west to 281 instead of the highway and the scenery was much better.

We went thru Johnson Ciry Tx the hometown of the President Lyndon Johnson.

We got rained on really bad on the way to the campground but we made it and the rain stopped so we could setup in the Lost Maples State Natural Area.  We had great views from our site, the bathrooms and showers were across the street and were very clean. Showers only had curtains not doors but that was not bad. Every one in the office was very friendly,

I really like the shelter built over the table.

The next morning we rode around the park a little before heading to store to get ice.

There is a winery on this road but it was not open when we were there.

4 miles from the campground is the Lost Maples Country Store and was a neat place and very friendly people.  We got ice and wood.

We went back to camper and then headed for the Twisted Sisters...
